Each record preserves provenance and, where available, the licence stated by the repository. A licence attached to one reproduction does not make every related material free to reuse.

Historical sources, photographs, editorial text, and third-party contributions do not necessarily share the same terms of use. This page keeps those layers separate.
Project text and design
Final ownership and the public licence must be approved before institutional launch. Until then, no open licence should be assumed for site text, translations, or design.
Community contributions
A document, memory, or testimony sent to the project is not published automatically. Public use requires a later agreement with the contributor.
Corrections and credits
If an attribution is incomplete or material requires a different credit, the record is corrected while preserving editorial traceability.
